Two auto-pedestrian accidents and a crash involving a car and a semitrailer truck killed four people on Utah roads over the weekend.
In Layton, a 15-year-old girl died about 11 p.m. Saturday while trying to cross I-15 on foot. The car that hit Chelsea Smith Peaslee didn’t stop, and police are hoping the public can help them find the driver.
Peaslee was trying to get from the west side of the freeway to Layton Hills Mall, according to Utah Highway Patrol spokeswoman Cori Start. She was with another 15-year-old girl.
Police are looking for a dark blue passenger car with front-end damage. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Davis County Sheriff’s Office at 451-4141.
In Ogden on Saturday evening, a 73-year-old woman died after being run over twice by the same motor home on 24th Street.

Fourteen trucks loaded with sachet and bottled water were impounded by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s Task Force for not registering with the Accra Waste Management Project before transacting business in the Central Business District (CBD) of Accra.
Some of the companies whose trucks were impounded were Space Filtered Water, Eagle Filtered Water, Ahenfie Filtered Water, Flaco Nsu Pa, and OK Mineral Water.
Mr. Ebo Botwe, Chairman of the Accra Plastic Waste Management Committee, said there had been a tremendous improvement in the registration of sachet water trucks since the operation to impound them started on Monday.
“I am impressed with the rush for the stickers by the sachet water producers since the commencement of this operation,” he said.
Mr. Botwe said it was the hope of the committee to get at least 80% of sachet and bottled water companies which transacted business in the CBD zone to register by the end of the week.

A pickup truck that was involved in a collision Tuesday afternoon smashed into the side of the city police station.
the truck, a green Chevrolet, struck a black Hyundai at Sixth and Plum streets. The truck then hit the police station’s wall that runs south along Sixth Street.
Police did not say whether the accident was the fault of either of the drivers, whose names were not released.
Police staff said they felt the impact, including the street crimes unit, whose offices are closest to the spot where the truck hit.
The vehicle also knocked down a utility pole, which lay broken under its wheels as police officers swarmed the area to determine the damage.
An ambulance was called to the scene. No details on injuries or charges issued to either driver were immediately available.

Tammy Hillenburg grew up here where her great-grandfather, grandfather, and father all drove milk trucks.
As a little girl, she remembers riding with her dad in his truck. Today, Hillenburg keeps tradition alive with her brother, Tim Hillenburg, who drives a milk truck every day in Pleasant Hope. She started riding with her dad to learn the business four years before he died in 2004 and then inherited his truck.
“I never thought I could do it,” Hillenburg said about driving the 60,000-pound truck. “But my dad knew I could do it.” Hillenburg’s father would say if any girl can do it, she could.
After taking over her father’s milk truck, Hillenburg continued helping people in a different way: She also cuts hair. For 18 years, she has enjoyed making people pretty as a hairstylist.

The Bush administration must redo upcoming fuel-economy standards for light trucks, a federal appeals court in San Francisco ruled Thursday, as the ones it planned are “inadequate” and don’t take greenhouse-gas emissions into account.
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, speaking at the Los Angeles Auto Show, praised the decision to reject the proposed standards, which increased truck fuel economy slightly, saying “the federal government is not showing any leadership” in fighting global warming.
Congressional Democrats and environmental groups also approved. The Sierra Club called the ruling by a three-judge panel of the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals a huge victory and “a stinging rebuke” to the Bush administration.
“I applaud the court for killing this regulatory turkey so close to Thanksgiving,” said Rep. Edward Markey, the Massachusetts Democrat who heads the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.
