Idaho Falls Donates Fire Truck
The Idaho Falls Fire Department says it hates to see it go, but is donating its first elevating ladder truck, which the department bought in 1963. The truck is being given to the Jefferson County Fire District as part of a grant agreement.
Idaho Falls received money for a new truck after the department agreed to donate the old one. The 85-foot elevating platform truck is still in great shape, with only 13,000 miles. The Central Fire District says with the growth of Jefferson County, it will be a great addition to their fleet.
Fire Chief Jim Deuel, Jefferson County Central Fire District: “Although we don’t have high-rise, we have buildings that cover alot of square footage, so if you have fires in center of those buildings, and you made roof access to get to inside, it’d give us ability to do that on structures it wasn’t safe to put people in.”
