A pickup truck that was involved in a collision Tuesday afternoon smashed into the side of the city police station.

the truck, a green Chevrolet, struck a black Hyundai at Sixth and Plum streets. The truck then hit the police station’s wall that runs south along Sixth Street.

Police did not say whether the accident was the fault of either of the drivers, whose names were not released.

Police staff said they felt the impact, including the street crimes unit, whose offices are closest to the spot where the truck hit.

The vehicle also knocked down a utility pole, which lay broken under its wheels as police officers swarmed the area to determine the damage.

An ambulance was called to the scene. No details on injuries or charges issued to either driver were immediately available.
